LEVEL UP YOUR TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

It is always good to know what those technical line items are about, especially when it affects your budget. Understanding the basics of what is needed to produce a technical event can help you make the correct decisions regarding must-haves versus the need to have.

The basics - Sound

A good sound system is critical to the success of live events for several reasons:

Clarity and Quality: A high-quality sound system ensures that the audio is clear and distortion-free, allowing attendees to enjoy the performance or presentation fully. A poor sound system can detract from the overall experience and negatively impact the event.

Audibility: A good sound system ensures that the audio is audible to all attendees, regardless of their location in the venue. This is especially important in large venues where sound quality can degrade over distance.

Atmosphere: A well-designed sound system can help to create the right atmosphere for the event. For example, an excellent sound system can enhance the impact of music, lighting, and other elements to create a memorable and immersive experience.

A good sound system sends the message that the event has been planned with care and attention to detail and that the organizers take their responsibility to provide a great experience for attendees seriously.

In conclusion, a good sound system is an essential component of live events. It helps to ensure the event's success by providing clear and audible audio, creating the right atmosphere, maintaining safety, and projecting professionalism.

When it gets a bit more complicated - Visual & IT

This important piece of equipment comes in various sizes and configurations, ranging from compact, standalone units to large, rack-mounted systems. They are typically controlled by an operator who can select which video source to display at any given time, and can also perform other tasks such as adjusting the video quality, adding transitions or effects, and controlling the display layout.

Visual switchers play a crucial role in live events by allowing organisers to switch seamlessly between different video sources, enhancing the visual impact of presentations and performances. Using a visual switcher, event organisers can ensure that their events are engaging, professional, and memorable for attendees.

With today's technology, there are affordable all-in-one solutions but it is always important to question the redundancy of the solution that is being provided and question whether the fail-safes are in place in case of failure.
